BECOME A MEMBER

Prospective members must be twenty-one (21) years of age or older as of May 1 of the current year and show an interest in community service.
All members go through a Provisional term, typically from May 1 to April 30 of the following year. The Provisional term is intended to develop friendships and gain an understanding of HJWC policies, procedures and volunteer service opportunities. After their Provisional term, they will be either Active or Working Active Members.

TYPES OF MEMBERSHIP

Membership to HJWC is limited to five hundred (500). There are six (6) types of Membership:
Active Members – have meeting, service and fundraising hours, and fundraising financial commitments each year. General Meetings are held on the first Wednesday of each month except in June, July and August.
Working Active Members – employed Members have meeting, service and fundraising hours, and fundraising financial commitments each year. Working Active Meetings are held in the evening of the first Wednesday of March, April, May, September, October, and November.
Associate Members – have previously been either Active or Working Active Members for at least five years, including their Provisional year, before being eligible for Associate Membership. They have fundraising financial requirements. They are encouraged to attend meetings, events and activities.
Ten Year Members – have previously been either Active or Working Active Members for at least ten years, including their Provisional year, before being eligible for Ten Year Membership. They are encouraged to attend meetings, events and activities.
Provisional Members – are new members going through the process of understanding HJWC policies, procedures and volunteer service opportunities. They have meeting, service orientation, fundraising hours, and fundraising financial commitments during the year.
Honorary Members – are outstanding citizens who have been extended honorary Membership for their exemplary support of HJWC. They are encouraged to attend meetings, events and activities.
Except for Honorary Members, all Membership types pay annual dues ranging from $100 to $125. Service hours consist of volunteer work at one of the Service Projects. Hours range from 24 to 36 hours per year, depending on the Service Project. Fundraising hours include workshops making products and gift baskets and set-up, display and take down at Holiday Happening. Fundraising hours range from 10 (for Active and Working Active Members) to 16 (for Provisional Members) hours. Fundraising financial requirements include a $200 commitment and purchase of a ticket to and attendance at Holiday Happening.
