Holiday Happening Overview
Over the years, the women of HJWC have held many fundraising endeavors; however, beginning in 1983 our fundraising event has been called Holiday Happening. This gala has evolved into a luncheon held each Fall celebrating the beginning of the holiday season. It combines both a live and silent auction, bidding on big board items, entertainment, and the sale of our beautiful baskets of handmade items from our Provisional Class. The items in our auctions are very generously donated by our members and by the many wonderful corporate friends of HJWC.
In May 1987, HJWC Members voted to establish Crafts as a Service Project for the annual HOLIDAY HAPPENING silent auction. The Craft Project members, with their unique skills and talents, work throughout the year creating beautifully handcrafted items to be sold at this fundraising event. Proceeds from this silent auction make up a large portion of the total funds raised from HOLIDAY HAPPENING and donated to children’s charities in the Houston community.
